This made me laugh when I though about it later...

Firstly, apologies to anyone whose blog I haven't commented on/read - I've been super busy the last 2 days. :/

And another note: I have started a new PROJECT!! I'm calling it the Insomnia Project - basically I'm trying to compile a book of activities and such things of Ways To Keep an Insomniac Busy. I want as many people as possible to contribute ideas, and I know there's lots of other insomniacs out there, so you should go HERE and send me some good stuff!

Pink Hair!!

So the reason I was laughing:
Last night I stopped at CVS on the way home from class, to see if they had any Sominex. For some reason, NO ONE seems to carry Sominex, but lo and behold--CVS had some. But only 7 boxes left.
I've been surviving on Unisom for weeks because no one ever has Sominex, so I was really excited. I also figured I should stock up, so I got all 7 boxes. When I put them down on the counter in front of the cashier (a boy who looked about 16), he gave me this horrified-but-really-sad look like he's just watch me run over his puppy or something.

I just ignored him, because it was kind of an awkward moment.

But then after I got home I thought about it from his point of view: This disheveled young blonde comes in out of the rain, her hair a royal mess and her eyes quite tired from general exhaustion (home, school, not sleeping properly, etc.), and she trudges straight up to the register (that's right, I Trudge) and dumps 7 boxes of sleeping pills down on the counter. And doesn't buy anything else.

I probably looked like a suicide-in-progress. That made me laugh out loud. I think I'm just a little evil for taking pleasure in that poor boy's discomfort...

So what are y'all doing this weekend? If anyone is within driving/public transport distance from Warwick, NY, you should come up to APPLEFEST!! It's super fun--crafts and wine tasting and the farmer's market, apple picking, art galleries, live music, etc., etc., etc. Even if you can't properly enjoy all the fattening food that they have, there's still lots of fun things to do. I've been going every year since 1999 so you know it's friggin awesome.

  1. If I was anywhere near Warwick I would be there for sure! It sounds so quaint and relazing and wonderful. Not going to lie, I'd kind of take a little bit of silly pleasure at that boys displeasure too.

  2. Why, you evil little minx! Nice work scaring the pants off of the kid!

I, too, have been battling. Last week was hell. That bloody full moon!

You trudge, that's hilarious! I flounce-ponytail bobbing-half dressed-still finishing breakfast-putting jewellery and make up on-out the door-disaster! Flounce, for short!

Ah, I wish I was going to Applefest. Every year we have the Grahamstown National Arts Festival. It's held in winter, about 2 hours N/E of here. It's awesome! All us weirdies come out the woodwork! It showcases our best local talent, music, dancing, theatre, arts and craft. The African crafters and drummers are amazing. And the food... Deadly-good! http://funkymunky.co.za/foodpics.html and http://www.my-easy-cooking.com/2009/03/proudly-south-african-hot-dog-or.html Sorry, the names are unpronounceable to foreigners. Afrikaans is a weird hybrid language, but the pics will tell you why obesity is such a problem here.

Hope you have a wicked time! Please post photos. Thanks Babe. X

  11. I like your hair! That's pretty funny about the sleeping pill situation. I avoid cashiers whenever possible. Self-checkouts are my friend. :) Though, obviously, CVS doesn't have that option.

  13. Just festooned the front trees with hanging skulls and Jack-O-Lanterns...tried to get the stake lights done...however, the Jack-O Lanterns came up missing...Just ghosts for now....find them on the 'morrow.
Wondering how long it will take for some well intentioned Fundementalist to come along and smash it all up...to teach me and my wicked ways a lesson. Well, i tried!

  19. Oh that poor boy..... did make me chuckle a wee bit though. I wonder if he'll jump on you with joy next time you go in??
I'm still trying to find a form of sleep-inducer that works for me. Valerian in liquid form helps me to stay asleep (if you triple the dose...it's just a herb!!), but not so much with the making me sleep.
I'm slightly jealous of your hair. It really suits you!!
