A lady of breeding ought never to raise her voice any louder than the gentle hum of a whisper in the wind.

So I'm kind of a quiet person by nature. Not shy, or depressed, or whatever--just quiet. As in I don't feel the need to speak every single one of my thoughts out loud.

My mother, however, is a different story.

I love her to death; I really do. She's honestly probably my best friend, but HOLY MOTHER OF GOD she never shuts up. Most of the time I can tune out a good portion of what she says, but usually this is more difficult in the mornings. She never mastered inner monologue I don't think, so every little thought that pops into her head comes spewing out of her mouth, like a stream of consciousness no one can keep up with, and half the time she's talking about people from her jobs, so no one at home has any clue what the heck she's talking about, but she just keeps right on yapping. Even if there's no one in the room, she's been known to keep talking.

Like the aliens on Sesame Street. Yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip yip ..................

o.O

Perhaps this is why I was such an unnaturally quiet child.

  5. Oh my god, that's hilarious! My ex boyfriend's mum was the same, constantly yammering on in her Swanage accent about anything and everything. Couldn't get a word in edgeways! Her kids would stand behind her clicking the tv remote, trying to switch her off! Fucking funny!

I think you've earned the right to rename your blog Skinny B*tch! Look at that tiny ballerina bod! So jealous! XXX.

  6. Everyone in my family is freakishly quiet so I guess I'm lucky like that. Do you actually imagine the alien sketch whenever you hear her talking? Because that would be entertaining and hilarious!

    Peace and Love!

  7. haha my mom does the same thing to the point where she interrupts everyone and I can never get a word in edgewise, so most of the time I don't try. God, and when she drinks it's impossible to ever shut her up and she tells the same stories over and over and over.
I think they're this way because otherwise they'd technically be talking to themselves.
You look great in that picture : )

  8. OMG, you are describing my mum (and grandma since we lived with her) and now that is my MIL. Me, I rather not talk and listen to what people has to say. I am most definately not going to turn into one of those. I will be the one that seldom opens her mouth instead.

As usual, your describtion of things is hysterical.

  9. Awww...thank you for the lovely comment hun!!! :D

My mother is really quit and has no sense of humor, my grandmother is always griping to me about something, and I just sit in the basement at my computer listening to music tuning them both out. I think I'm in the middle talking-wise. I talk a lot when I'm happy, but when I'm any other emotion I get all emo and keep to myself :). Yip yip yip...haha, those were the days...

  11. Haha o lordy.. my mom is like this! always feels the need to be talking, talking, talking. It is SO annoying. I'm also a quiet person, so people like that get under my skin very easily.

I hope you didn't snap on her :p...I know it can be hard to keep your cool at times.
