That is what I call a wizard blizzard.

To the young lady who requested the Hermit--that one was claimed already. :( Are there any others you'd like? If not, I'll just pick some. All the others that were requested went out in yesterday's post.

I am a bloated hippopotamus. Binged last night, after doing really well all day. Obviously, I am not weighing myself until Friday. Did ok today, and went to the gym! I found a different one that's way cheaper than the one Little Sis goes to, and it's open 24 hours.  And only $10 a month!

I'm really working on eating rather than just fasting. I've gotten into a bad pattern of eating nothing at all for days at a time (only liquid calories, and never over 200 per day), which leads to seriously epic binges by the weekend. I tend to exercise better control if I actually eat something more often.

This is a terrifying prospect, and so it may take several tries before I break this pattern.

Something has taken up residence in my attic.

This in itself is not unusual. We get squirrels and birds in there all the time, especially in the spring. The birds love to break in and make off with the insulation, to put in their nests. You can tell the nests of all the birds that have been to our house by all the balls of pink fluff in the trees up and down the street.

It's the starlings that really go to town in the attic in spring. While I generally adore birds of all kinds, I have a problem with starlings. They're bad luck. They are especially bad luck if they are IN the house. I think they've learned their lesson, though, after I launched Operation Starling Holocaust last May. We shall see in the spring...

But yeah there's something in my attic. At first I presumed squirrels. It starts making noises at night, scratching and scurrying about, and OF COURSE it only does this over MY bedroom, so that when I complain about it to Mum she does not believe me. But squirrels sleep in the nighttime, right? And so do birds. Last time something was lurking in the attic at night and I investigated it, I found a flying squirrel.
I panicked and very nearly called the police, because I had never seen such a thing as a flying squirrel and felt certain it had escaped from some mad scientist's lab.

Tonight, the Thing What Lurks In The Attic is making more noise than usual. Scratchy scratch scrapey scratchy...and then a THUD that was most definitely made by something that weighs quite a bit more than a squirrel, flying or otherwise.

I'm scared.

  3. LOL!!!!! @ the pic.

I've never see a flying squirrel in real life (only on TV and such), but I always pretended to be one as a kid. Weird, huh?

Yeah, I've always been a tad bit f-ed in the head.

  5. Oh Mitch. I do love you. Advice, bring a long knife to the attic with you. Or a shotgun if you have access to one. Or just take a lot of vitamins first so you're not so scared. Your picture made me think of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SouLHEHnP5U
good luck with your plan to cut the binges :)

It's so crazy that you can go days at a time with only drinking <200! Such self control! The weekend binges, they happen, but you and I are on to waaay better things, I know this!!

And so cool you found a $10 24 hour gym! Mine's 32.50 a month. Jealous!

  10. I used to have a flying squirrel as a pet:) they are harmless promise.

I'm going to assume you have a very large rat in your attic :| they are noisy and well they tend to make a lot of noise/fall of things without really getting hurt lol I don't think I'd investigate though. Attics freak me out.

A $10 a month gym is awesome! where do you live again?!? Even in my small town the cheapest is $25 a month and it's not even a real gym! It's a rehab facility for physical therapy!! I'm getting ripped off (or would be if I still had the membership lol)

I'm currently having the same food issues as you. It's all or nothing. Starve or binge. Trying to find a medium is nearly impossible all the sudden it seems like, I used to be so good at it...I don't know what happened:(...good luck<3 hope you break the pattern soon!

  11. That's a great deal especially for a 24 hour gym, nice find.
Hahaha a raptor in your attic, I love it. That would freak me out too though, let us know what it is if you find out, I'm so curious.

  13. Omg I want a gym with that small a fee! Lucky lucky girl!
Do racoons climb? I know they always got into my camping gear back when me and mom went camping! And they do scratch at things and make noises.
    Lol at thieving birdies.
    Love the pic.

  14. If we don't trim the trees alongside our house, we get rats in the roof! Yay! NOT!!! My nextdoor neighbour has starlings in his roof. There's a big hole on our side. I'm not gonna tell him about it, 'cause he's a right prat and deserves all the bad luck they bring! (mean!)

Hope you catch whatever it is and more importantly, I hope it's innocuous!

    I want the flying squirrel!

Hope you feel better soon! <3. XXX.

  15. Maybe it's a raccoon or oppossum? Get a humane trap from the local animal control and when you catch the bugger, take him out in the woods somewhere and let him loose!

I have a fairly new house, and our attic is nearly impossible for animals to get into. But sometimes, when I am laying in bed at night unable to sleep, I hear sounds in my attic, too. My husband says it is the sounds of the house settling. To me, it sounds like the noises heard by the people int he movie "The Grudge." That move scared the shit out of me. Seriously-- that was the scariest movie I have ever seen. I can't even look at pictures from that movie. I can watch nearly any horror flick without too much of a problem-- but that movie gave me nightmares and when I hear those sounds in my attic, I feel like the grudge is gonna try to kill me or something.

  16. o damn things ar ein ur attic im sorry about that hun
and thats a good idea the eating lil rathre then fasting then binging

  17. As long as its not a hobo in the attic i think you'll be ok.

  18. A gym for only $10 a month! That's an awesome deal! I'm totally with you on the fast/binge thing. I try to fast, sometimes I do well and sometimes not, but fasting always ends up in overeating. Always. I also do better when I eat but also keep my calories low. Fasting tends to slow the metabolism doesn't it?

There was a squirrel (I think that's what is was) that broke into my basement beside my room- I wear hear all this awful scrathing noises while I was trying to sleep. Maybe it's a giant rat in your attic? I agree with Starving Artist, bring a shotgun and you'll own the thing :D

  19. but on a good comedy movie extra loud to drown out the noise, or music and dance around the house

  20. Operation starling holocaust? That sound interesting... and exciting! We always had a problem with barn swallows. They would build nests right outside our front door... then swoop/dive bomb anyone who walked underneath. Silly birds.

I am also stuck in the all or nothing game. SUcks balls it does.

  21. I just read another of your stories, Angelus, and had to tell you how amazing you are. I want you to finish it so I can read more! Most of the stuff I read from people online is so bad it's hard to get through it all, but I didn't want to stop reading (imagine me walking around my house glued to my itouch) and had to rush after so I wouldn't be late to pick up my friend.
You're really talented which is probably why your blog is so great, I don't doubt that you'll be published someday (hopefully soon)

  22. It's me. That's why the "Thud" is so loud.

  23. Good luck with the eating/excercising thing! You can do it! :) eating is scary but it'll be much healthier and better for your metabolism if you eat a bit more rather than restricting (you know that but w/e xD)

oooh no, that sounds so creepy! I hope whatever is living in your attack moves somewhere else soon!

  24. I love your pictures so much! I've snorted tea/coffee/coke all over my laptop/pants/top/cat and nearly wet myself laughing. Please don't stop drawing them!!

I've cuddled the kitty, and I'm scheduling in more "medetation" (Napping) time next week. This week was stupidly busy and I NEVER want to repeat it!

I'll steal The Boy's cat and post her to you to take care of whatever is in the attic. Gremiln (AKA Growly Maowly/Gremmin/Grem) can take on a fully grown dog 6 times her size and walk away sniggering into her whiskers.

So sweet of you:) I spent a good 5-10 minutes trying to get all the tape off with my fingernails so I wouldn't ruin the cute card lol I will start decorating soon<3
