OOOOoooooooooooooooooo a sailor's life is the life for me....
Cinnamon's pony arrived yesterday. (Parasol had to make a stop in New Jersey before continuing on her merry way to South Africa.)
Mich's ponies love to make new friends! Although I must admit Mich-Parasol was a at first a bit suspicious of Cinnamon-Parasol.
But she seems to have calmed down and accepted her as a sister.
And they're all friends now. Here's both sets of Rainbow Ponies all out to wish their jet-setting cousin a pleasant trip!
Growing up is for sissies.
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
I know this issue has come up numerous times before, and we've all probably talked about it and thought about ad nauseam, but the fact is that it remains an issue and will continue to remain an issue until we can achieve some kind of healthy state of recovery; so...
Sometimes I really wish people would shut the eff up about my weight. I think about my weight pretty much every second of every day. I really don't want to talk about it as well, and I especially do not wish to talk about it with other people who do not see my weight the way I see it. What makes this particular conversation topic extra-agitating is that people tend to bring it up on occasions when I feel especially BAD about my weight. Like on days when I've been bingeing, or at least eating too much crap for my own level of comfort.
This past weekend, for example. I didn't really binge (except on Friday night), but I ate more than I normally would (i.e., daily calorie consumption was well outside the Safe Zone). And of course I felt like a fat bloated hippopotamus. Extra bloated, because IT'S TOO BLOODY HOT OUT and I tend to swell up in extreme heat.
As if I didn't feel crappy enough eating barbecue food and feeling bloated and cranky in the 90 degree weather, Mum has decided (again) that I am "too thin." And when Mum comes to a decision, she NAGS. She especially likes to nag when she has witnesses (like Little or Big Sis, friends, family, acquaintances... anyone who is within earshot really), so she can talk about you and the thing about which she is nagging and discuss it with the other person(s) in the room like you're not even there.
>:(
And all I can do is sit there thinking, Is she on drugs? Are they all on drugs?? Are they kidding??? I'm a WHALE.
Occasionally, there's that small voice in the back of your head that knows you're thinner than what medical professionals call "healthy." But knowing that fact does not alter the image you see in the mirror.
Why?
I see the number on the scale, and sometimes my self-molestation reveals ribs and hipbones sticking out a bit. So why is the body in the mirror SO FREAKING FAT!?
'Tis especially fat this week. Although I have woken up both yesterday and today with the intention of doing a <200-cal liquids-only day, I have failed miserably. Instead, I have been eating like a normal person and I feel extremely anxious about it. I suppose it's a good thing, to be getting the proper amount of food, and trying to eat when I'm hungry and stopping when I am no longer hungry (Possible Recovery Attempt #586949473945?). Dailyburn.com lets me know how I'm doing on the carb, fat, and protein consumption as well as the calories, because at this point I have NO EFFING IDEA when I'm Actually Full, or when I'm Actually Hungry.
I feel hungry all the time. A horrible, growling, gnawing, hollow hunger that camps out deep in my gut. When I stuff my face, the hollow space is quieted and somewhat satisfied. But as soon as I have finished chewing and swallowing, the hunger returns. Even if I'm so physically full I can't do anything but lay on the floor like a beached sperm whale--I'm still hungry. I still want to eat more, because something deep within me is still empty.
This is the key to fixing my head, I think. I need to find that empty space and fill it with something that is not food. Food will not fill it (obviously, or I'd feel satisfied after inhaling whole boxes of Special K with milk and sugar). But something else must fit in that hollow space, because it wasn't always so bare and empty.
The idea of "recovery" is terrifying. I've made a few attempts before, all of which have fizzled out and ended up with me right back to starving. But as the saying goes, if at first you don't succeed, destroy all the evidence.
Or perhaps try again?
Ugh.
In about ten minutes, I'm going to go get a sandwich. Because it's lunchtime and I'm hungry. My heart is beating so fast over this, it feels like I just ran several miles on an 8% incline on the elliptical. But I can do this. Without freaking out.
....totally.

Those ponies are so cute <3
ReplyDeleteAnd I know exactly what you mean, my parents are the same and my friends and I'm just like HELLO can you not see me. And when did eating like a normal person become our version of over-indulging --- it is at this point I start to think maybe view is a little distorted but can I stop? ofcourse not.
Ihope you do find something to fill that hole it is a horrible feeling *ninja hugs*
And I totally agree with the films always much prefered Aristocats and Robin Hood I mean who wouldn't love a fox in tights! :)
and thanks for the suggestions I will look into it :)
Take care xxx
I loves the ponies!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd i too hate it when people tell me that i'm too thin. Right now, with a nice big baby bump, and feeling like i am the biggest pregnant woman ever, people are telling me that i don't eat enough, and that i don't look big enough to be as far along as i am. You just want to scream at them and tell them to shut up because everyone knows you're huge! But you can't... and it's so frustrating. I really loved the picture you put up with the girl crushing the house with people saying she's too thin. It made me smile... in a sad, true kind of way, but it's still a smile!
Love you bunches.
hahaha I love the "you're too thin!!!" picture, that's pretty much how I feel anytime someone mentions my weight.
ReplyDeleteMy mother has said (not about me but people in general), "If someone says you're too skinny, they're just jealous." My mother loves to talk about me in front of my face to other people too, it's especially great when she expresses "my" opinions too or "remembers" stories quite a bit differently than they happened.
Good luck with the sandwich : )
Thank you so much for getting Parasol for me. You're the best! Your collection is epic! Serious pony envy!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry you're in such a bad place right now. I also despise being told what size I should be. It's insensitive and condescending. There's nothing like soaring temperatures to make one feel like a pig on a spit. I hope the weather improves soon.
Just so you know, I'd kill to look like you do, I think you're gorgeously tiny! But I know it's not my opinion that's important, it's yours. I too understand the gnawing hunger. Not having a kill switch means I'll have to live with it the rest of my life...or come to terms with obesity. Goddess forbid!
I hope you find the piece that fits, my love. You deserve it. <3. XXX.
hope you feel better and although recovery is scary I think trying not to is more scary. I hope you find something that works for you. You're fun, smart and beautiful always remember that stays the same no matter what weight you're at.
ReplyDeletei love those ponies! actually those first few pictures gave me the hugest smile on my face. too cuuute!
ReplyDeleteyeah ive treid recovery more times then i can count and i alwasy faile dbut keep trying hu nit has to stick one of these times it just has too
ReplyDeleteadn i hate ppl who nag like just leave me teh fuck alone already
aww cute ponies
I know that hunger well, and I also know that when you eat and eat well it goes away. It took me a while... few months but I got there and you can too. If you eat a decent amount of good food (1200cals of unprocessed wholesome fiber rich food!)consistently you begin to feel truly satisfied. I swear fruit and veg are the answer!
ReplyDeleteLoving the ponies :) xxx
I know this feeling all too well. For one, when I started to eat like a normal person, in hopes of recovering my obsessions and what not with food, I spiraled into a phase of ALWAYS being hungry. I could eat until my stomach looked like there was a baby brewing in it and still be hungry the second I finished my plate. It was ridiculous. And my instinct to eat was so natural, I couldn't say no. I just got up and got more food. It was disgusting, and even repeating it now makes me feel so shameful. But my body was starving... It's all a part of transitioning. Try and take things slow, but like you said, fill your mind with something that isn't involving food. Pick up a hobby. I know it helps me if I doodle in my sketchbook when I feel a binge coming on. I draw a picture of what I'd like to look like, and it reminds me why I shouldn't be a fat cow.
ReplyDeleteLove the pics! I feel like that too a lot of the time.
ReplyDeleteSmashing a house by sitting on it. Tho the Honey Graham Ohs are my Cocoa Pebbles.
When I get that hunger, that need to stuff my face it's because I feel unfulfilled and powerless to change that lack of fulfillment. We have jobs too small for our spirits, jobs that suck our lives out. I think most women are stuck here. Hence the emotional eater stereotype. Cuz eating does make body chemical changes for a bit.
So I recognize I feel unfulfilled, but since there's not much I can do I still stuff my face.
I get so pissed whenever I hear someone calling me skinny. SO PISSED!
ReplyDeleteLike today, a girl I haven't seen in a year came up and said "omg, stop getting so skinny!" and I wanted to punch her in the tits.
My aunt told me on sunday I looked like I weigh 105lbs. What. The. Fuck. I got really agitated internally by that. I feel like I must be living in a fun house, a crazy zone where nothing is what it seems and I can't figure out who's right and who's psycho.
oi. I feel you.
I liked dailyburn. I used it for 3 months or something to help me eat normal quantities of food. Anyway. I'm marinating on a blog entry just for you about the pandora's box I opened yesterday. O_O
Ahaha well YOUR shade of blonde is very pretty. However my hair study pic used crackhead blonde cut out of a lilo pic. It's weird but the hair looked worse in the original. Anyway...
ReplyDeleteYea I don't look up to Ronson for *maybe* having an ed. I look up to her because of how well she is dealing *if* she has one.
Poor girl is a medical mess. She jokes about it.
Latose intolerant, allergic to cats (waa!) Allergic to a fuckton of other things. She's on like 6 meds.
And...there's whispers that she has rheumatoid arthritis. Which would explain a desire to stay thin. Low weiight = less stress on joints.
And she has joked about arthritis. She'll blame her slow movement on her arthritis. She has also said several times that she'd move back to NYC in a heartbeat if not for the cold. Seems New York weather is physically painful to her for like 9 months of the year. :(
You know who you should do it?
ReplyDeleteFOR PONY!!!
Fuck I love Richard, I sing 'Slaughter The World' in my girly soprano for the juxtaposition giggles. (Ok, wanna start a jazz group called Juxtaposition Giggles?)
Bwahahaaaaaaa, your MLP pics always crack me up!
I can't handle the heat either, maybe we should move to Antarctica and take of the world, starting with the penguins? I hear the ice sheet is melting pretty fucking quick these days, there'll be more land uncovered soon for our serfs to farm!
I hope you have a good day tomorrow <3
Oh, I absolutely loathe getting comments on my weight. But I suppose I'd rather be told that I look "too skinny" than be told that I look "healthy."
ReplyDeleteIt's funny. I, too, have decided to attempt to eat a sandwich today. I haven't voluntarily eaten bread without purging in months, but I'm trying something new. So, best of luck to you in your culinary endeavors! Just know I'm with you in spirit as you conquer the Sandwich Challenge.
I love how the sun is always giving you a judgemental glare everytime you're outside.
ReplyDeleteLOL
~MLM
Your parasol has a strange resemblance to Charlie- yes, Chaaaaarlie. :) We should never have to grow up! I'm perfectly content as a 22-year-ld college student snuggle up with a Harry Potter book knowing matter-of-factly that Hogwarts does, in fact, exsist. :D
ReplyDeleteI hate it when folks comment about my weight- they never see it like I do. And nobody sees your weight the way you do. Folks look at you and see you as thin while you look in the mirror and see something completely different. Folks look at me and see someone "average" and I look at me and see someone who should be on "The Biggest Loser."
I feel the same with the hunger thing- I can no longer tell if I'm full or not. I just keep eating and eating until finally I'm a bloated a mess! I've tried this normal eating thign (~ 1,200) and it bothers me. It bothers me to see the numbers stay the same or get higher and it bothers me to be eating so much. I think it's much harder to fix our heads that we thought... Well, I wish all the best for ya darlin' and if/we you decide to fast, I hope you're very successful. Have an awesome weekend! ♥
Hey Pony-girl!
ReplyDeleteYou're the shortest in your family? THAT'S ADORABLE!!! Sorry, I know it's not the sort of thing a grown woman wants to hear, but I love how little you are! I bet I could hold you in my hands, like a faerie. Hmm...faerie envy, too!
I know what you mean about the water. Despite our tap having a filter, the water still tastes like 12 different kinds of shite! Blech!
So glad your package has arrived. The jerky IS awesome! It's from Woolies, so quality is guarenteed!
I'm the same with unwrapping. When I was a kid at home, I was very big on recycling. I tore the sticky tape off carefully, then smoothed out and folded up all the paper nicely to use it again. Anal much?! I, too, want at least an hour long Happy! It's why, for the longest time, I thought sex was awfully overrated! Gimme presents instead, dammit! Kidding!
Love you lots, little sprite! <3. XXX.
P.S. Word verification: 'Kinglyou'. Blogger recognizes your true worth! Bow down!
*Sniffles* I got the basket Granma and Granpa used to bring on picnic trips at Toko Mouth! It became his knitting basket, and now I shall use it as one too.
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the memories and having something solid to remind you that they were real. I don't like wearing rings though, gah! I shall have to get used to it.
A Proper Rest will come soon. 3 weeks until exams are done, I can do it! Then back up to ChCh to visit Glamour Nana! Can hell pigs breathe fire? Lol, breathe fire AND bite through the skull of anything that pisses us off!
I've got a little box of goodies ready to fly to you, its just waiting on sufficient funds to accumulate.
You're awesome, I hope you have an amazing weekend! If the heat gets too much, you're welcome to come crash on my couch until it passes :)
<3
Ugh. That "you're too thin" picture really depicts how I feel whenever I'm at my mom's house (where we always have to eat) and she says I haven't eaten enough to be full (but I'm already bingeing just by being there).
ReplyDeleteYour pony collection is amazing! I hope you feel better soon<3
this pictures of all the ponies together is precious :)
ReplyDeleteIt is very annoying whenever people talk about your weight. I was at the pool yesterday with my friend & she was like omg you have chicken legs! they are so freakin tiny!! I'm like are you f'n kidding me?! I just don't understand.. & it just gets under my skin. I feel like at least every girl (who has an ed or not) should know better than to speak about another girls weight. There will always be people that do it though:( Hopefully your mom will stop harassing you soon.
