No response from the boy yet. I don't think he goes on facebook that often. :(
Underwood is nearly finished!! It shall be up on Amazon as soon as the cover is complete. Elk is working her magic on that, while I've been sitting here all day playing with ideas for the back cover.
Mainly, playing with ideas for the little blurb that goes on the back of the book.
I am heinously bad at writing stuff like this. Fiction I can do, but advertising? Nope.
Any of you readers out there in the field of advertising, marketing, or PR? I could totally use some advice/pointers/free ad copy.
Here's the best attempt I've got so far. Lemme know what y'all think!
It took me the better part of two whole weeks to come up with those three little paragraphs. And the first one is a quote taken straight out of the book.
Oioi.
It's over 100 degrees out today. It sucks. I might skip my workout.
I'm working on being ok with that.
ohhhh I am excited, that sounds wonderful. The last paragraph was kind of confusing, is Desmond the locust man who is really their cousin and trying to save them?
ReplyDeleteCan you break your workout up into shorter sessions and cool down between them?
ReplyDeleteOnly thing I could think to change is 'shape-shifting children' to 'strange children' and that's just because I like the sound of it a bit better xD I'm no advertiser though
BLOODY BRILLIANT, M.! I love it! It looks super professional and is very well written. I love the drawings! So beautiful! This book is going to be so awesome, I can't wait! I'm busy devouring The Fairy Queen! Can't put it down! You are summin' else, Darlin'!
ReplyDeleteCan't believe it so hot there, the rain's back with a vengeance on this side! Love you! <3. XXX.
Haha it seems great minds think alike! But mine is more of a alternate reality. Us are almost basically sims in their world. It's fun, different concepts on the same idea!
ReplyDeleteahhhhhhh! so exited!
ReplyDeletealso, I always hated that twit for swapping his homies for fucking turkish delight. goddamn, turkish delight isn't even good! it tastes like jellified sugary spice ass!
xo
Sounds awsome! Not into fantasy but would def read this based on the back. But I agree with Ane that the last part about the cousin is a bit weird and confusing.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the feedback!! It really helps. <3
ReplyDelete100 degrees. So lucky! It's been wet and cold her buy hey ho! It is England. It would be asking too much to ask for heat.
ReplyDeleteI know next to nothing about advertising and I swore off writing letters and things for a reason lol. But it looks perfectly fine to me.
It looks really nice and interesting (: Love your writing (:
ReplyDeleteIt's an excellent advertisement! It may have taken you ages, but it was well worth it. ^_^
ReplyDeleteLove, it's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI would like it to be warmer in this land, but not 100degrees, I wouldn't know what to do with that!
<3
Yea to someone who doesn't know Underwood as well as us fans ^_^ it would be easy to get confused that Desmond is the Locust Man. Maybe a paragraph break to separate the two thoughts better?
ReplyDeleteAlso OMG OMG I NEED TO REOPEN MY AMAZON ACCT. Yay Mich!!
Love it! I can't wait to buy your book!!!!! Eeek! Can I get an autographed copy?
ReplyDeleteNow I wanna start reading your work. Sounds very interesting!
ReplyDeleteHopefully your crush will get back to you somehow. I've learned that people are flaky/unpredictable when you try to contact them online. My latest "crush" must be old school: she won't respond to Facebook IMs or messages, but she almost always responds to e-mails and/or comments on my status right away. I dunno... different strokes I guess...
Do NOT beat yourself up about not working out today. It is 1:39 AM as I type this...and still at least 90 degrees. You could probably sit on your front porch and sweat off five pounds, lol.
1. This boy needs to get his act together - FB isn't that hard.
ReplyDelete2. This weather BLOWS - I skipped yesterday but I'm about to go run right now to try and beat the heat.
3. I think you say a bit too much in your final paragraph. You just need to catch our attention, the book itself will hold it.
Wonderful job on publishing :)
looks exactly like my type of book :) xx
ReplyDeleteOMG wow that sounds soooooo awesome!!!! I want to read it!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could buy the book on Amazon, but I don't have a credit card! Ugh. I hope it shows up one day in stores here. Seriously. Or I could wire you the money and you could send me a copy? Oh, I want to read it.
ReplyDeleteHair washing is a very complicated process and I'm so glad you understand the implications of changes to such a schedule! Utter personal chaos. Seriously.
And yes, being bush-less makes me feel like a 9-year-old again, wishing and praying for puberty to kick in.
I do so feel bad about leaving Nathan, although I feel better knowing you did it too. At least it's normal. I thought maybe I'm weak-willed or too sensitive for the job.
I will post pics of kitty tonight! :)
Che is okay, haha, he's just way too sensitive to medication, unlike me who can pop ten of the same pills and only feel happy albeit a bit loopy. But definitely not wet-the-bed loopy.
Stay lovely, Mich, and please let me know about buying the book! x
Duuude, I would totally read that! :D Can I?
ReplyDeletethat's incredible Mich! you had me with the first sentences :) i'm behind in your posts - how are you getting this up on amazon? do you have a publisher or are you taking care of that yourself? i am so excited for you, your words are going to be out there in the world, people will be holding your ideas & thoughts in their hands!!
ReplyDeleteThat book sounds awesome- I would totally love to read that! I'm a sucker for anything fantasy. I think you did ver well with those three paragraphs- like Sea said, you had me with the first sentence! ♥
ReplyDeleteit sounds great
ReplyDeletethank you for the encouraging comment - sucking it the tummy as we speak, let's hope I'll remember the all day everyday part :) xx
