another booooooooooook

I went home from the wedding. At least I managed to sit through the actual service. Lil Sis noticed my absence and sat with me in the bathroom until I felt I could sneak out of the building unnoticed.  Rest of the weekend was ok.

Some good news (I guess?): my YA novel is finally published. My agent quit ages ago, so I had to start the process of doing everything myself, but after getting in touch with multiple bands to get permission to use their lyrics, typesetting the whole book, and then typesetting it AGAIN because

also designing a cover, and then taking roughly 576753838 hours to come up with the blurb for the back of the book (which I think is rubbish, but I'd kind of given up at that point).

But anyway, This Broken Road is now available in paperback and as an e-book on Kindle.

I may or may not update the website with links to sellers other than Amazon, but the site that hosts the Elk and Owl website (Webs.com, NEVER NEVER use them) has become my mortal enemy, so I might not bother.

There is also a Spotify playlist that is a sort of soundtrack for the book, with some good tunes. (If the link doesn't work, just search "This Broken Road - Angela's Playlist" in Spotify.)

  2. Congrats. I know how hard that formatting is. I've heard, anyway. Haven't suffered through doing it. You deserve a medal.

  3. do you have any idea how much it's bothering me that you still have your winter background? oh well, in just a few months, this background will be legit. but it is very accurate for Australia. ;)

i have to tell you that the Burrow picture makes me the happiest.

i'm super glad that you left the wedding. your mental health is more important than any ole crummy wedding. i hope that you're feeling better and you gave yourself a break. you should be kind to yourself, love <3 you deserve only the best.

mashallah i can't believe how much you get done. i'm so impressed by you. i write fanfiction and even that i don't update frequently enough, like...

you know what i think of your music: it's amazing, but it's totally not my thing. but it's super good and super different from what everyone else listens to. that's what makes you super special (amongst other things). like it's difficult to tell someone they have good taste when you aren't into the same genre of music. i don't think i've done that to anyone but you... ugh i love you, babes. <3 God, i hope this comment isn't weird. it's been so long since i've typed one up!

    1. I'm too lazy to change the season. Getting almost as lazy in real life--this past year my Christmas decorations stayed up until like March.

Music is so subjective. I don't think the music I dislike is bad, I just don't like it. Except pop-country, that garbage is a fecking travesty because: https://youtu.be/GdYatkECzyo. Oh and Taylor Swift because no.

In college, my roommate Damo and I had almost a full year of music war. I love Abba. I FECKING LOOOOOVE THEM. Damo felt the same way about Primus. Like I have loads of respect for Les Claypool as a bass player, but I REALLY JUST CAN'T EVEN with Primus--they really rub me the wrong way. And Damo had a level of hatred for Abba befitting the Old Testament. We tormented each other with Abba and Primus at least 3 times a week. And now even though I really don't like their music, Primus has a special place in my heart, just like Abba does for Damian. xD

What music DO you like? I would like to have a listen.

  4. Lot of good stuff on the playlist. I'd forgotten you're the one who introed me to 16 HP. Put the book on the wish list in anticipation of coming OT.

  5. The cover looks great. I wouldn't know how to begin formatting. I'm glad you left the wedding. It was kind of you to go to the service, but you can't give away so many pieces of yourself that you have nothing left.

    Love,
    Janie

  6. Hey stranger, I'm so psyched you've published another book. From the blurb it sounds like a much more personal story than your middle-grade novels. I plan to purchase & read it this summer. I started reading Underwood to my daughter, who just finished 3rd grade. She seemed very excited about it.

I thought you had deleted your blog forever. It's good to see you're still around. :)
