He's a good man. And thorough.

Not much to report on this end...... I am currently a slave to Downton Abbey. Actually waiting for the season 2 finale to load so I can watch it before I go to bed. I've been neglecting blogger again, but I shall try my best to catch up with all you wonderful people this week. To make up for my lack of bloggering, everyone on my mailing list shall receive something nice over the next week and a half or so, for St. Paddy's Day. :D

In other news, everyone in my house is sick, and everyone at work is sick (colds, bronchitis, sinus infections...). I have not fallen prey to any disease as of yet (::knockonwood::), although my nose is permanently cranky since we have the heat on most of the time. 'Tis currently slathered in baby bum cream.
stylin'!
I received a lovely package of goodies from Désespérée de Maigrir--a nice little collection of tea, some lip balm, and DELICIOUS strawberry jam. I made a snack of it this evening with melted peanut butter and ice cream.
This, my friends, is what PMS looks like:

I 'spose I should give a brief update of how things are going in the ED recovery department....
At the moment, it's going pretty well. I've had good and bad days, but as time goes on, the bad days become fewer and fewer. I have thrown myself into my fiction writing, and that helps immensely. At the moment, the fairy book is in the process of final editing and illustration, book 3 is nearing completion, and I have made a good start on book 4.

With my mind focusing on all that, I can honestly say that most days I just don't care about the ED stuff. I eat when I'm hungry, I allow myself the occasional junky food and don't feel guilty about it, and I think I'm maintaining my weight. I have no idea what that weight actually is, as I have not stepped on the scale since around Christmas, but I still fit comfortably in my 0 and 00 trousers, so I'm guessing around 105-108. And right now, that means nothing to me. So yeah, recovery is going well.

....On a less happy note, my cat had a rather bad trip to the vet recently (for her annual checkup). The vet says she has an enlarged thyroid, but that it's likely caused by a thyroid issue that'll be easy to medicate once it's diagnosed. In order to diagnose it properly, Callisto needs blood work, but since she has a heart murmur that is now an arrhythmia, and an anger management/anxiety problem, she needs to be sedated for things like blood work.

This means that the blood work is going to cost about $500.00.

I do not have $500.00. I have of course started saving with each paycheck, but I don't really make a lot of money and I have rather a lot of bills, so the saving is not going too well.

With that in mind, I have started up an internet shop: I'm selling mugs now with some of my pictures from this blog. More shall be added soon, and I shall also take requests for other mug designs. I might put some of the pictures from the LotR post up on mugs, but they'll probably be limited edition because I have a feeling those could get me sued...

Kitty says buy mugs!!

  1. Congrats on all your progress with the ED and the novel writing. Thou art most awesome! But aww....your poor kitty :( I am definitely buying a mug--got some extra paypal cash burning a hole in my laptop. BUT I have requests...which I will e-mail you about as soon as I scour through your previous posts and find the right pic. Maybe Mich riding a sparkle pony? And the sun could be making one of those funny faces you do so well.

Oh man...this could take a while. By the time I decide on an image for my custom mug you'll have raised all the $$ and your kitty will be all better.

Screw it, I still want a Mich Mug, yo.

    xoxo

  2. Holy crap, that white nose baby bum cream shit is a good look on you, lady. You're like some kind of intergalactic milky way snorting babe.

Also, I love the mugs! LOVE! I would, however, prefer a tshirt. Can you sell some tshirts, too? I would wear the hell out of such an item. I'm sorry about the kiki...maybe you could sedate her at home with brandy?

I'm happy your recovery is going well! Hearing that makes my day.

  4. Brent is also totally obsessed with Downton Abbey! I hope your 'nosey' gets to feeling better soon.

I know I tell you this all the time, but it's true, I'm extremely proud of you! You've worked so hard on yourself and your efforts are paying off. You're looking absolutely stunning, M.!

Your mugs are gorgeous! What a great idea! I love Daisy and the racoon! Perhaps I can convince you into doing a special one of the drawing you did of us having tea in our finest or one of us with the birds like our blog headers! Hmm, must put money aside for some Michie-mugs! Squee!

I hope Callisto can go for the necessary tests and such so she can feel better soon. Give her my love. :)

  6. Sorry to hear about everybody being sick Mich, here's hoping everyone gets better soon and we don't have a crazy epidemic on our hands haha! It's good to know even with baby cream on your nose you still manage to look good too.

  7. HOW is it that you still look gorgeous even with diaper rash cream all over your face!??

The "Mornings" mug just made my whole week. oh and PLEASE make a Mouth of Sauron mug. :D

    I second Kazehana on tshirts!

  8. You look so pretty even with all that lotion on your nose! Recovery seems to be treating you well :]

Calisto is so pretty! She looks like she could be a relative of my Daisy...I hope everything works out for her!!

  9. Good luck raising funds for your kitty. My pug (who is the love of my life) was recently diagnosed with having seizures (terrifying) and all the testing is hella expensive. :( While I'd love to be able to do every thing she needs right away we're having to go slowly and monthly.

  10. How'd you get the baby bum cream on your nose?- no wait, don't answer that!

Glad to hear things in your personal life are going great (exept for everyone being sick)! And though I'd love a mug with your art on it, if you think not making much money is hard, try not making any money! One day I will own one of those mugs though! They look great and like I've probably said too many times before, I'm a big fan of your art!
And if you made a lord of the rings mug, who'd say it was lord of the rings and not just some random fantasy characters?
Hope you raise the money for your cat! Cats are people too!

  11. Eating more + not ballooning = the joys of a normalizing metabolism! Huzzah on the peace with food, pretty lady.

OOH OOH Coffee of Mordor mug??? Pretty please? I promise not to tell Peter Jackson or any surviving Tolkiens!

Also, if you want any help editing, I'm always finding the typos in books (I could tell you a few in Underwood for if you ever make a 2nd edition, if that wouldn't make me an ass).

My security code words are feralRoc and analpi. What is UP with blogger and their security stuff these days...

  12. So sorry everyone is sick...including kitty, but not you...knock wood!

Yes, how IS it you look lovely with a smear of cream all over your nosey?

Will definately buy a mug, i soooo love them! And i agree, t-shirts would rock!

Sounds like things on the ED front are going swimmingly...go you!

Lots of love to you, my sweet!

  14. Scary Kitty!! Hope you're doing well :D

  15. It sounds like you're doing so much better now than you were at the tail end of last year. You've broken your writing block and are doing well with ED recovery. My great-nephew is in hospital with pneumonia, which started as the flu going round. And I'm sorry to hear about your kitty, I hope you can come up with the money as getting the blood work done is only the first step. I have 3 dogs and 2 cats, and I pay some serious vet bills.

  16. squeeeee I love the technologically challenged and proud of it mug. Do want!
But my car just went in for $600 worth of work so my mug will have to wait. Actually i want a number of mugs.. but again will have to wait.
You are cute even with white stuff all over your nose.

  17. Absolutely love the fact that I am not the only one with sudocream plastered all over their face. Mine's my lips, not my nose. How attractive we are :)
I've got my fingers crossed for you on the 'keep-away-and-don't-you-even-think-about-making-me-ill' sitch. It's like life is testing me at the moment by constantly throwing me into everyday norms but with the twist of SICK persons. Driving lesson was hellish - had one hand on the wheel, one opening my instructors window and then my mouth telling him to shove his head out of it if he was going to sneeze. Needless to say, I think my lessons will be cancelled if he is the slightest bit ill in the future (and that will be him cancelling for my benefit). Slightly off topic, trying to veer back now..

That jam looks lovely, I made bramble jam last summer and it goes very well on toast or scones. But if we have it with scones my family gets into the age old Southern England arguement as to whether it's cream then jam or vis versa. Your snack looks yummy - now I'm occassionally getting my appetite back I'm going to try out a few of your wonderful looking recipes, any recommendations on your favourites to try first?

Good luck with the books and your excellent recovery progress, you super trooper.

Very sorry to hear about your cat, I hope you can raise the money in time :( Sing 'Soft Kitty' to ease the pain?

Lots of love and well wishing your way.
    Take care,
    M xxx

  19. Girl, I have missed you!!! You know me, I can't stay away from blogger for long- there's something about having a place to express yourself and connect with others that I just love. I have so many of your posts to catch up on! I hope you don't get sick- nothing sucks worse! But your nose will soon be as smooth as a babies' bum! I wish I had the creativity and determination to throw myself into fiction writing (when I move out, I swear I'm buying all of your books). I'm so glad your ED recovery is going well! To not have all that stress and anxiety all the time frees your mind for other things. I bet you feel better too, physically and emotionally. I hope you're able to sale loads and loads of mugs for your kitty- here's so hoping she gets better soon!

  20. P.S. Have you ever thought about making your blog into a book? That would brilliant- I would buy that too :D

  22. i ADORED that link you sent me. As soon as I have the funds, I'll make that cup MINE!

(I would also love to get my mitts on a Treebeard mug, if you can get around possible sue-age. Maybe call it 'fanart' or just an ambiguous Ent?)

    I hope all recover soon

  23. Just got finished reading "Underwood", and I know I promised you a book report, but I've been traveling a lot, and haven't had an opportunity to write one. Will a quick 'Hurrah!' here, do? I am passing it on to my 12 yr old granddaughter to read, and will let you know what she has to say when I hear back.

I think the mug idea is a good one! If you think anyone might be interested in artwork on a mug, we might be able to work something out. It would involve me sending you a 'clean' digital copy of the selected work(s). That said, you need to know that not all of my paintings are available for this kind of marketing (for instance, My son owns the rights to "Sail in the Storm", so I am unable to give permission for it's use). Let me know what you think. Here's hoping Kitty gets her tests very soon!

In the meantime, thanks for stopping by my place, and for your sweet comments. And I have to agree with everybody here...you look smashing in diaper ointment!

  24. I thought I was the only one who used destin on their face, yay I'm happy now;) I'm glad things are going well in the eating department too! I'm sorry your kitty is sick:( When I get some funds next I will most definatly order a mug! I hope she gets better soon, we had to put one of my dogs down the other day, it was so sad... So I know how you feel! Maybe you could add a personlisation option for your mugs, so that people would be able to add their names or something?

    love,

  26. My jam! Hey there little jar of jam, you're famous now :)

Anyway, I'm glad you're enjoying it so thoroughly - I made it with the most wonderful strawberries last summer, the kind grown in my town, not flown half-way across the world. That's Jersey jam up in tharrrrr.

I hope your sniffly nose is feeling better, though you do make quite the fashion statement with that diaper cream!
